This film destroyed me. Beautifully poignant and sad. Gorgeous looking and sounding. These lives of sand just falling to the wind.
Did anyone else notice the character connections with works by the awesome wordmaster Haruki Murakami?
-characters in the Japan scenes such as Haruki and Lieutenant Mamiya.

Holy Cow, when I read H.M.'s After Dark I thought of two movies- Lost in Translation and Babel.
man that's awesome! I have yet to pick-up/read After Dark, but have been anticipating doing so with much excitement and curiosity. The whole intertwining stories thing is definitely very Babel. And the vibe of Murakami's settings and characters are definitely reminiscent of those in Lost in Translation, even the thoughtful pace and visual crispness are typical of each. How amazing! I guess there are certain consistencies in these works that make the three of them each so captivating and enjoyable.
